May 13, The Cotswold Way - A Day of Rest
I cancelled my morning transfer back to Dursely. I needed some down time to rest. I knew the planned walking section started with a heavy duty climb.
After a leisurely breakfast, I went for a walk to find a "good" coffee shop. So far, most of my hotels have understood the concept of drip, strong coffee. But the coffee shops only understand espresso. Americano doesn't do it for me. It's espresso + hot water = weak espresso. I have been settling for cappuccino. The hotels provide tea and instant coffee options. I've found that instant coffee has improved over the past 50 years.
After my disappointing coffee shop, I went on to walk around Wotten-Under-Edge. It was cold and overcast that early in the morning. So I returned to my room to work on my Cotswold blogs. Around noon, the sun came out and I went on a more extensive walk. The photos are shown below. Look closely at the bakery labels. I don't know if it is unique to this area, but what we call "granola bars" are called "flapjacks" here! Whoop!
